Who is responsible if your child is hurt in a school bus accident? There can be a lot of answers to that question, and here in East Tennessee, I know a lot of us trust our children to the care of a school bus driver and a school bus company on a daily basis. If the school bus is involved in an accident, the first possibility is that another vehicle could be at fault for that particular accident outside of the school bus, and your child would have a claim against that other driver.
However, in some situations, you can actually have a claim against the school bus company itself. The first thing to be aware of is that generally, in the East Tennessee area, school buses are not operated by the county itself or by the city itself, but they’re contracted out to third parties, which have to carry a certain amount of insurance coverage.
So if you are involved in one of these situations, and your child is injured, make sure to contact an attorney as soon as possible. You can contact us at Banks & Jones: 865-546-2141 or at banksandjones.com.
